In 2011, GCP built Khmer Heart Center in Singha Village, which is located about twenty kilometers from Battambang. This farm center is designed for volunteers to experience rural Cambodia life. This pristine, seclude abode is a four-acre organic fruit farm. The farm center also serves as an additional food resource and supplemental instructional education center for local villagers.
The Three Phases of Khmer Heart Center
Purchase of land, clearing for plantation and construction of water reservoir, director’s home, as well as other need amenities, was completed in 2011.
Plantation of 200 various fruit trees, a small livestock farm, and construction of a small, traditional guest house for volunteers was completed in 2012. This also marked the initial implementation of GCP’s cultural immersion and service learning program. See our Service Trip & Travel With Meaning page for more information about how to participate in this program.
We are currently seeking funds to complete this phase of the center.
