“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” -Heraclitus
As I wake up this morning, I could feel the nervousness start to build up. I never expected to come back a second time to Cambodia with GCP. It wasn’t as if I didn’t enjoy it the first time, but rather, I enjoyed it too much. My first trip to Singha Village was a mix of emotions: excitement and confusion. Confused because I opened my eyes for the first time and saw the world as it is; witnessing the dual realities in this tiny country. Excitement because this was a new opportunity that laid ahead of me. Being number 9 of 10 siblings, I always felt as if I could never do more; that I incapable of doing great things like my older siblings. The second time will be different even though it is the exact place when I had left it. It’ll be different because in the course of two years, I have changed. I will be met with new challenges, new ideas, and new perspectives. I am back to explore Singha Village once again; explore a different me.
