I’m deep in sleep. My daily mid afternoon nap. I drift in and out of sleep. I feel my daughter, Sarinah, hand caressing my face. And for a moment I thought I heard our oldest, Savannah. I awake to the sound of laughter and play. I peek out of my hammock to see our GCP volunteers playing games with their students. I smile and laughter echo through our center.

It’s amazing experience – connecting with another person with intentions rather than just words. We don’t speak the language and somehow, after only few days, our volunteers have already made meaningful connections. Yet despite the connections, I know that our time here is limited. All we can do is present the possibility of a different future and sometimes, it must be good enough.
