We are less than 30 days before our service trip and I’m excited to see our students & the children at the orphanage. It’s been almost 13 years since my 1st trip to Cambodia & Thailand. The emotional struggles – cultural shock – of being immersed in overt poverty overwhelmed me. I couldn’t articulate the internal struggles I had of land of wonder, of lush green forest, of cultural tradition dating back for centuries with poverty and suffering. I didn’t want to leave our guesthouse – afraid to deal this new reality of human suffering. But the Kingdom of Cambodia is a land of contrast – over the years of traveling back & forth, I’ve had the privilege see its people & country change. There’s hope – hope that is driven by its people, for its people. And I am in awe of it all – the resilience of the human spirit.

Cambodia – The Land of Wonder…  I long to see you again in all your beauty & complexities…

Struggle. Resilience. Hope.
