“We are not makers of history. We are made by history” It is too often that we are indulged in our own indulgences that we forget about our history. Today, after visiting the S-21 Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh, I am reminded of how important history plays a part in our life. It is because of history that we are here today. To relive and read the stories of such an event leaves me speechless. I know there is nothing I can do or change about it. However, I am reminded of why I am here. I am not here to make changes; rather, I am here to learn. I am here to learn about the culture and myself so that I am able to be of help to others. Throughout this trip, I have learned that in order for one to truly be of help or make any changes possible, it first starts with making changes to one’s self.
